especially in responding to the increasing demand for medical oxygen during the Covid-19 pandemic."This is not intended to monitor the circulation of imported products in the country, because supervision can be carried out by providing requirements for importers to meet standards in their countries of origin or meet international standards. domestic producers, experts, and related parties to innovate and be able to meet the needs needed during this pandemic," said the Acting Deputy of Standard Development of BSN Donny Purnomo in his statement in Jakarta, Friday (23/7).Donny said that in the midst of the second wave of pandemic conditions and the current high number of Covid-19 sufferers in Indonesia, the need for medical oxygen and its supporting equipment is very high, including medical gas cylinders, regulators, flow meters and oxygen concentrators.Therefore, BSN tries to identify international standards that can be adopted as SNI.There are nine international standards to be adopted related to SNI for medical gases, namely ISO 10524-1:2018 Pressure regulators for use with medical gases - Part 1: Pressure regulators and pressure regulators with flow-metering devices;ISO 10524-3:2018 Pressure regulators for use with medical gases - Part 3: Pressure regulators integrated with cylinder valves (VIPRs);ISO 10524-4:2008 Pressure regulators for use with medical gases - Part 4: Low-pressure regulators.Further, ISO 9809-1:2019 Gas cylinders - Design, construction and testing of refillable seamless steel gas cylinders and tubes - Part 1: Quenched and tempered steel cylinders and tubes with tensile strength less than 1 100 MPa;ISO 15002:2008 Flow-metering devices for connection to terminal units of medical gas pipeline systems;ISO 9809-2:2019 Gas cylinders - Design, construction and testing of refillable seamless steel gas cylinders and tubes - Part 2: Quenched and tempered steel cylinders and tubes with tensile strength greater than or equal to 1 100 MPa;Then, ISO 9809-3:2019 Gas cylinders - Design, construction and testing of refillable seamless steel gas cylinders and tubes - Part 3: Normalized steel cylinders and tubes;ISO 80601-2-69:2020 Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-69: Particular requirements for the basic safety and essential performance of oxygen concentrator equipment;and ISO 80601-2-67:2020 Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-67: Particular requirements for basic safety and essential performance of oxygen-conserving equipment.According to Donny, the nine standards will be adopted into SNI quickly with an urgent route, and as a first step, BSN will form a Technical Committee for the Preparation of SNI.BSN proposes to form a special technical committee which is a combination of representatives of related technical committees and experts, namely the Technical Committee for Formulation of Indonesian National Standards 11-15, Medical Gas Equipment and Its Equipment whose task is to discuss standardization in the field of medical gas equipment and its equipment.Standardization for medical gas equipment and its related equipment includes cylinders, regulators, flowmeters, oxygen concentrators, oxygen conservation and other supporting equipment."The establishment of this technical commission is to complete a set of SNI as soon as possible so that it can be immediately disseminated and can be used as a reference for parties who need to anticipate national needs," said Donny.After the members of the technical committee are formed, it will be followed by a technical meeting or consensus meeting using the Adopt Reprinted Republication method, and a poll that will last for 20 calendar days.Furthermore, it ends with the target of determining the nine SNIs by the end of August 2021.Donny hopes that the SNI for medical gas can later become a reference and increase the competitiveness of the industry in producing and meeting the national needs for medical gas,
